Ghislain Poirier: Bastard Bass Mix
Montreal's Ghislain Poirier, last seen around here on my own memekast mix mk001, has announced his Ninjatune debut, and dropped a serious promo mix to get us ready.
The mix is called Bastard Bass, and with it Poirier continues his relentless, electro-fueled assault on the border walls between dancehall, hip-hop, soca, grime, and any others that get in his way. One needs only check out his body of work to know these boundaries don't stand a chance.
Past collaborations have included eurocrunk posterboys TTC (Big Dada Paris), abstract hip-hop guru Beans (Warp, Antipop Consortium NYC), dj/rupture (Tigerbeat6 NYC), Lotek Hi-fi (Big Dada London), and plenty more. His remix credits are deeper still, with official releases for Lady Sovereign (Def Jam, Chocolate Industries London), Maga Bo (Soot Rio De Janeiro), TTC, and SF's own Bassnectar (Om Records, Bassnectar.net); not to mention a ton of boots for the likes of Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, Spank Rock, The Clipse, and on and on.
The album itself, No Ground Under, is set to drop in North America on January 29.
Thanks to Cumulus for the heads-up.
